Peter Cahn

Peter Cahn

Peter Cahn joined the Institute in July 2012 as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, and Director and Professor in the Center for Interprofessional Studies and Innovation.

He trained as a cultural anthropologist with a focus on contemporary Latin America. Dr. Cahn started his career in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma in 2002, where he became Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies.

His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Wenner-Gren Foundation. He has published two books as well as articles in American Ethnologist and Cultural Anthropology. He writes occasional columns for the Chronicle of Higher Education [1].

Before coming to the IHP, Dr. Cahn served as Director of Faculty Development and Diversity in the Department of Medicine at Boston University. At BU, he designed a structured, longitudinal mentoring program for early career faculty as well as workshops on academic writing and grant proposals.
