Research Interests: 

Dr. Rossi’s research involves the use of mixed methods to examine factors affecting clinician practice and the achievement of positive health outcomes, particularly for patients with complex needs. Her current projects are focused on improving the handover communication during transitions of care for complex patients.

Dr. Rossi currently serves as a term lecturer in the Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MS-HPEd) [2] program in the Center for Interprofessional Studies an Innovation at MGH Institute of Health Professions, and coordinates the Leadership and Organizational Change course. 

Over the last 12 years, she has focused her practice on the analysis of quality and safety issues affecting health care systems. Dr. Rossi was trained in the Patient Safety Officer Executive Development Program at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in 2009.

In her role at the Massachusetts General Hospital, she has worked with various clinical services on the evaluation of adverse events and the implementation of various improvements to mitigate error and harm to patients. Constant change in the health care environment have prompted her ongoing interests in studying how the broader systems/processes influence clinician practice, and ultimately, impact patient outcomes. Her specific interests are related to facilitating transitions of care and improving team communication.

Dr. Rossi has longstanding experience as a registered nurse and has been certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health by the American Nursing Association since 1984. She was inducted as a Fellow in the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Nursing in 1994. Her teaching experience has been extensive and varied with appropriate tailoring to staff of all ages with various levels of experience and education as well as members of other disciplines.
