Karen M. Flaherty, MSN, MEd, APRN-BC, CBCN
Karen Flaherty is Instructor in the School of Nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions.
Her nursing career has spanned 42 years, and her focus has always been in the area of Women's Health, working first as a staff nurse, then as a Clinical Specialist in GYN Oncology, and finally as the Director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a position that she assumed in 1998 and held until retirement in 2017.
After getting her master's degree at Boston College with a concentration in Oncology care, she taught at the long-since closed Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and then at the MGH Institute as a Term Lecturer after she completed her Nurse Practitioner Certificate. She thoroughly enjoys working with this new generation of nurses and hopes that she can infuse them with her enthusiasm and passion for the wonderful career path they will soon embark on.
