Hi! My name is Caresse Henderson, and I’m currently a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at MGH Institute of Health Professions and I am the JEDI fellow for the School Of Nursing. I was born in Texas, raised in Chicago, and love spending my free time dancing, reading, and pretending I’m the head chef in my own “home restaurant”.
I became a JEDI fellow because I wanted to work directly on addressing inequities and collaborating with others who are also committed to justice and equity. Being part of a community of advocates is inspiring, and I’m passionate about creating events that bring people together to support mental health and build community.
Right now, I’m working on a project called Relax, Relate & Refresh. It’s a chance for students to take a breather with two free workout classes—a Pilates session and a strength endurance class led by certified trainers. The goal is to bring people together to de-stress, recover, and support each other. I know how tough things can get, especially when finances are tight, and I want to create a space where we can connect, unwind, and take care of our mental and physical health together. I’m excited to collaborate with my peers to explore new strategies that educate and inspire others.
