Emily A. Zeman, OTD, MS, OTR/L, is Associate Director of Clinical Education and an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. 

Dr. Zeman has taught as adjunct faculty in the Occupational Therapy program at the MGH Institute in 2015-2016 and was a Teaching Assistant and Instructor in the Occupational Therapy department at Tufts University in years 2014-2016.  She is also on the faculty for the interprofessional Mind Body Health and Healing program in the School of Nursing. 

Dr. Zeman has presented and been published at both state and national levels and will be presenting internationally in 2018 at the World Federation of Occupational Therapy Congress in South Africa.  She has taken an active role as an OT consultant for continuing education courses at New England Resources, Inc., and has presented workshops and seminars to medical and allied health professionals, graduate students, parents of children with disabilities, and colleagues.

Practice Background
Dr. Zeman’s clinical background is in pediatrics, ages 0-21, focusing on outpatient-based interventions with a specialization in home programming and self-management for the client and family.  Dr. Zeman’s clinical positions have been in the public schools, home care, at OTA-Wakefield, Inc., and at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital-Charlestown & Spaulding-Salem.  


Research Interests

Dr. Zeman’s main area of expertise is self-management, quality of life, resilience, and mindfulness.  She is passionate about helping the “helpers” in their work roles in managing compassion fatigue and stress with mindful strategies, as well as the parents of her pediatric patients.  Dr. Zeman is also expanding into research in health professional graduate burnout, interprofessional education, and caregiver stress management.  Dr. Zeman is in the early stages of implementing mindfulness interventions with youth in a Boston-based elementary school, to support SEL curricula.
