Catherine (Cathy) Smythe is a retired geriatric social worker. Her most recent positions were at Massachusetts General Hospital with the MGH Senior Health geriatric practice and the MGH Senior HealthWISE community-support program. In both these positions, Cathy had the opportunity to work with the IHP staff and students.

Smyth is a Master Trainer in several of the Stanford University Self-Management Resource Center’s evidence-based health programs. She leads community-based health and wellness programs for adults. She is an active volunteer at the Pine Street Inn where she serves on the Friends of the Inn Council and is a volunteer in the Immokalee Public Schools of Collier County, FL, as well as other community programs. She and her husband, Peter, are supporters of Home Base, a program of MGH and the Boston Red Sox that assists veterans.
