Admissions Spotlight: Master of Science in Physical Therapy for International Students Program
Master of Science in Physical Therapy for International Students
Online application deadline: March 1, 2014 – Fall 2014 admission
About the program:
Designed for physical therapists who completed their physical therapy education in another country, our Master of Science in Physical Therapy program offers training that will prepare students for the next step in their careers.
Offering an interprofessional mix of evidence-based academics and targeted clinical experience, the program enables foreign-trained therapists to hone core skills in critical inquiry, and basic, behavioral, and clinical sciences as they build upon their critical thinking and clinical decision-making capabilities. Students also participate in a series of interprofessional experiences that provide them an opportunity to work collaboratively with students across other health professions.
Our Master’s students gain direct patient-care experience under the supervision of master clinicians in our Physical Therapy Center for Clinical Education and Health Promotion. The Center experience gives the students the opportunity to improve hands-on skills and apply principles learned in the classroom to direct patient care.
The framework of the program is based on physical therapist practice in the United States. While the program is intended to advance the practice of its graduates, the program is not structured with the goal of preparing graduates for PT licensure in the US or to facilitate employment in the US.
