Mission and GoalsHILL is a professional development organization devoted to improving the literacy skills of all children, particularly struggling readers. HILL goals are to: - Engage school districts in educational partnerships to improve students' literacy achievement through a systemic schoolwide literacy change initiative. Initial focus is on Pre-K and elementary students with roll-out assistance to middle and high schools within a partner district.
- Train literacy teams and teachers in the core reading/writing skills necessary to teach every child to read to his or her potential.
- Provide change management and process management guidance and support to school and district leadership and literacy teams so literacy improvements can be developed and sustained.
- Transfer expertise in literacy and assessment to district educators as quickly as possible.
HILL fulfills this mission by delivering programs and services in four areas: - Teacher training and consultation
- Research and evaluation of measured outcomes
- In-service professional development and collaborative mentoring
