Patrick Alexis CSD '03 Receives First Alumni Service Award

The first Alumni Service Award, established in 2010 by the MGH Institute Board of Trustees, was awarded to Patrick Alexis CSD '03.

The award recognizes a member of our alumni who has demonstrated ongoing dedication to the IHP and honors that dedication by selflessly serving the school in an extraordinary manner

Since graduation, Patrick has worked as a speech pathologist at John Winthrop Elementary School, a Boston public school. In addition to providing speech-language services to the student population there, Patrick has distinguished himself as a leader among his colleagues.

Perhaps most importantly, though, is Patrick’s service to the Institute. Recently, Patrick said, “The Institute has done so much for me that I can never do enough for it.”

These are not just words to Patrick. He volunteers for many CSD and Institute events, has been an ambassador for the Institute to the community, and served as president of the Alumni Board for two years. He also serves as a clinical preceptor for our CSD students.

As his nominator said, “There has been no better, clearer, or more committed voice for the Institute than Patrick’s.”

Award Qualifications

Nominees will be evaluated based on dedication to promoting the Institute, depth of involvement, and amount of time committed to service.

The award, open to all alumni from all academic programs, will be given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to the Institute community and support of its mission in the following ways:

  • Contributing to advancing the mission, reputation, and standards of the IHP by direct service as a volunteer committee member, instructor, clinical preceptor, or philanthropic supporter;
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Institute by promoting the programs and services to the local and/or global community; or
  • Participating in professional associations and promoting the stature, reputation, and strength of the Institute within those arenas.
